Grant Consultation

Grants are the life blood of universities and many organizations, but often finding the right funding mechanism, developing and writing grant proposals, and submitting them by due dates is time consuming and many organizations do not employ a full-time grant writers.

As a former National Science Foundation (NSF) program officer who has written several successful proposals, I am extremely knowledgeable about the grant development, writing, and submission process along with the merit review process which guides federal agencies’ funding decisions. I will work closely with you to:

  • Identify and apply for the right federal grant funding opportunities;
  • Develop and write persuasive proposals;
  • Effectively revise proposals for resubmission;
  • Develop an appropriate budget; and
  • Provide individual coaching and mentoring during the grant development and writing process.

Drawing on my experience as a NSF program officer, I also offer an intensive 1-day  virtual NSF proposal writing workshops. These workshops provide novice principal investigators with the in depth knowledge and tools to write successful proposals. The topics include:

  • How to identify the correct NSF funding mechanism;
  • Insight into the merit review process and how to appeal to the reviewers;
  • How to conceptualize and develop innovative proposals;
  • How to write clear and persuasive proposals;
  • How to prepare required documents such as the data management plan;
  • How to develop an appropriate budget and budget justification; and
  • How to approach an evaluation plan (if required).
